How to work with Wikispaces

Username & Password

Your username is your regular school network username.
Your password had to be at least 6 characters, so we added your graduation year before your regular school network password. So, it will be “11password.”

Usage

Use the wiki appropriately. This means that even if you are using the wiki at home, you still must abide by the same school rules for Internet usage.
NO personal information of ANY kind, including last names, should be on the wiki or the discussion pages. Remember that anyone in the world can view these pages, so we need to be safe.
Remember, as site administrator, I can see ALL postings, even if you try to delete them. ALL postings & messages on the wiki should be school appropriate and should relate to the topic we’re discussing on the wiki.

Instructions

To get started, go to your class period’s wiki page. Click on the your name – it is a link to your page, which hasn’t been created yet. When you click on it the first time, it will give you a message that says, “This page doesn't exist yet,” but you can just click on the 'Edit' link at the top to add content to your page. Click the SAVE button in the toolbar at the top to save your changes when done.

You are limited in the fonts you can use if you compose on the wikispace, but if you compose in Word and copy-and-paste, it will generally retain the font from Word. You do not have to indent the first line of each paragraph; but you should double-space between each paragraph.

To add pictures, make sure you have saved the picture you want in your folder on the network. When in the edit mode, click the picture for "Insert Images and Files." In the dialogue box, click "Browse." When you have found the picture you want, double click it and then click "Upload." When a thumbnail of the picture appears in the dialogue box, double-click the image to insert it. You can align it or resize it. Be sure that your page is attractive and readable.

Be sure to save your work often!
